In the Republic of Happiness is a confession of contemporary obsessions and anxieties. The characters are in a desperate search for happiness, trying to cope with contemporary issues. What does happiness really mean? The protagonists of Martin Crimp's play try hard to find an answer to this question, as they have to face the many challenges of today's society.
